The Consumer Classroom

 

The Consumer Classroom www.consumerclassroom.eu is a community website for teachers bringing together an extensive library of consumer education resources from across the EU, along with interactive and collaborative tools to help prepare and share lessons with students and other teachers.

The site is developed together with teachers, taking their needs and feedback into account. It is funded by the European Commission and aims to stimulate consumer education in secondary schools (12-18 year olds).
The CDETB Curriculum Development Unit (CDU) is the ‘National Team Partner’ for Ireland and is represented by the Acting Director of the CDU, Miriam O’Donoghue.

  • Use the interactive lesson builder tool to create your lesson plans
  • Use the ‘My Class’ area to share lessons with your students
  • Enter your class in the Inter-school competition 2016-2017 and win a class trip to Brussels!

  • Expand your knowledge of consumer education throughout the varied and multilingual free resources available

Consumer Classroom Inter-School Competition 2016 – 2017

 

The Consumer Classroom is currently running the fourth edition of the Inter-Schools Competition. The theme is ‘Smart Energy Consumers’.

 

The competition is open to secondary schools (12-18 year old students) across the European Union.  The closing date for entries is 17th March 2017, midnight, (Central European Time). Full details of the competition can be found here.

Energy Kit:   A toolkit of resources has been put together to support the competition theme ‘Smart Energy Consumers’. Teachers will also find this toolkit useful when teaching topics related to ‘Energy’.

The New Year is a great opportunity for you and your students to review your rights as consumers! The New Year Kit provides you with all information to begin 2017 – calmly and with ease.

 

The Kit is available in all EU languages to allow you to prepare your lessons with exercises, quizzes, lessons plans, in your language. This Kit is focusing on Consumer Protection as a main part of consumer education, which is a key cross-curricular theme for student learning.
