14 Nov Technology Enhanced Learning Mentoring Support (TELMS)
Over the last two years 2016-2018, CDETB has been involved in a TEL mentoring Erasmus+ project on Technology Enhanced Learning Mentoring Support (TELMS).
The project was supported in CDETB by the CDETB International Desk, the CDETB Curriculum Development Unit, the CDETB Psychological Service, Marino College and Pearse College.
Project partners included:
H2 Learning (TELMS Project Manager), Ireland
South Eastern Regional College (SERC), Northern Ireland
Solksi Centre Kranj (SC Kranj), a VET School, Slovenia
ISIS Malignani (Malignani), a VET Technical Institute, Italy
On 22 October 2018 the TELMS project celebrated the journey of the project and shared the project outcomes at a Conference in the prestigious One Microsoft Place in Leopardstown.
The TELMS model recognises that teaching staff need to be supported in their efforts to embed technology into classroom practice. The TELMS model facilitated trained TEL mentors to work on a one to one with their teaching peers in the classroom.
Carrie Archer, Marino College and Suzanne Yarker, Pearse College trained as TEL mentors with the South East Regional College, Bangor, NI in 2016. Over the last two years they have worked enthusiastically with TEL mentees in their own schools.
From September 2018 the model has been extended to other schools and colleges in CDETB.
This is an exciting time for both the project and CDETB as the mentoring model has a significant impact on the professional development of teachers, practice in the classroom and engagement of learners.
